When We Open for Mass
Dear Parishioners,
We have still not received official word about when we will be able to open for public worship. As you know, the diocese and other religions have been in discussion with state officials as to when and how to proceed.
Presently I am working with people to plan for our church, so that when we open, necessary protocols will be in place and known to all parishioners.
I envision the following guidelines: people will be asked to enter from the two side front doors of the church and sit on the side they enter. Every other pew will be blocked to ensure sufficient distancing between rows. For communion everyone will come forward by the main aisle, keeping distance in the lines from others.
After receiving Holy Communion, you will go back by the side aisle. At the end of Mass everyone will exit by the two side doors at the right and left of the side altars. It will be important to observe these guidelines to ensure the safety of worshipers.
A poster showing the traffic flow patterns etc. will be in the parish bulletin and on the website a week before we open. I ask you to study it carefully. I rely on your cooperation and understanding for a safe and orderly return to public worship.
I plan to keep the present Mass schedule. Weekday Mass could be an option for those who might not be comfortable at weekend Masses. How many people will be allowed to attend weekend Masses is being studied and will depend on the square footage of the church. Masks will be a must for all who attend church.
There will be a basket in the front of the church for your budgets, or you can continue to drop them off at the rectory and through the mail.
Remembrance in all my prayers.
Sincerely,
Father Gagne
