Children’s First Reconciliation

 Saturday, Jan 28th – 11:30AM

Your St. Peter’s family offers you our support & many prayers as you continue your spiritual journey by receiving this wonderful sacrament!

People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples turned them away, but Jesus was annoyed and said to them: ‘Let the little children come to me and do not stop them.’ Then he put his arms around them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.” (Adapted from Mk: 13-16)

Dear Parents! I ask you to help your children to grow in faith, I ask you to accompany them on their journey towards First Communion, a journey which continues beyond that day, and to keep accompanying them as they make their way to Jesus and with Jesus.  Please, go with your children to Church and take part in the Sunday Eucharistic celebration! You will see that this is not time lost; rather, it is the very thing that can keep your family truly united and centered. Sunday becomes more beautiful, the whole week becomes more beautiful, when you go to Sunday Mass together. And please, pray together at home too: at meals and before going to bed. Prayer does not only bring us nearer to God but also nearer to one another. It is a powerful source of peace and joy. Family life becomes more joyful and expansive whenever God is there and his closeness is experienced in prayer”.

The Epiphany of the Lord

Blessing of Homes on the Epiphany:

This weekend, the Feast of the Epiphany, there will be blessed chalk to be used in blessing our homes. In this ancient tradition, the chalk is used to trace the year and the initials of the Three Wise Men over the doorway: 20 + C + M + B + 12. Legend names the kings Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. The initials were long ago interpreted as “Christus Mansionem Benedictat“— “May Christ bless this house.” The chalk and the house blessing will be distributed at all the Masses.

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee..”

~ St. Augustine

“Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come,
the glory of the Lord shines upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth,
and thick clouds cover the peoples;
but upon you the LORD shines,
and over you appears his glory.
Nations shall walk by your light,
and kings by your shining radiance.
Raise your eyes and look about;
they all gather and come to you:
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters in the arms of their nurses.

Then you shall be radiant at what you see,
your heart shall throb and overflow,
for the riches of the sea shall be emptied out before you,
the wealth of nations shall be brought to you.
Caravans of camels shall fill you,
dromedaries from Midian and Ephah;
all from Sheba shall come
bearing gold and frankincense,
and proclaiming the praises of the LORD.

~Is. 60:1-6

January 1, Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

“In trial or difficulty I have recourse to Mother Mary, whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear.

~Saint Therese of Lisieux

This maternity of Mary in the order of grace began with the consent which she gave in faith at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, and lasts until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this salvific duty, but by her constant intercession continued to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation. By her maternal charity, she cares for the brethren of her Son, who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties, until they are led into the happiness of their true home

~Second Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium

“Let us run to her, and, as her little children, cast ourselves into her arms with a perfect confidence.

~Saint Francis de Sales

Christmas 2011 – Message from Fr. Gagne

Dear Parishioners,

On this Holy Night and Day, I want to express my thanks and appreciation for the way in which you have made Christ present to so many people during the season of Advent, and throughout the past year. Because of your prayers, and generous sharing of your time, treasure and talent, the lonely and the poor have experienced the warmth and love of God. Because of you, people were able to receive food, heat, rental assistance, medical supplies, basic necessities, clothes, toys, and tuition assistance.

Christmas Mass for St. Peter’s Autism Program

We had another wonderful Christmas Mass for the families in our Autism Program and once again were able to witness the beautiful expressions on the children’s faces as they experienced Jesus in a very special way. The Mass included decorating a Christmas tree, followed by a gathering with cookie decorating, snacks and mingling for parents and teachers.

A sincere thank you, on behalf of your St. Peter’s parish family, to all the parents for the beautiful example of dedication and love you show for your children as you continue to guide them and live out the real meaning of Christmas. And thank you teachers, staff and especially Fr. Gagné for the sacrifices that are continually being made in order to make this priceless Faith Formation program possible.

 “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
~ Matthew 25:40
