All Souls Day, November 2nd

Mass, Wednesday 7 AM
Commemoration of all the Faithful
Departed (All Soul’s Day)

The ‘fire’ of purgatory is God’s love ‘burning’ the soul so that, at last, the soul is wholly aflame. It is the pain of wanting to be made totally worthy of One who is seen as infinitely lovable, the pain of desire for union that is now absolutely assured, but not yet fully tasted
— St. Catherine of Genoa

St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Preparation

St. Vincent de Paul Holiday Preparation

With the holiday Season fast approaching, the St. Vincent de Paul Society is making it’s preparations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you are in need, or are aware of a family in need, please contact the society with the information. This may be done by either calling the society at 461.3157 or putting the information in a envelope marked “St. Vincent de Paul” and placing it in the collection basket. We are looking forward to a joy-filled holiday season and thank you for your cooperation.

"We cannot better assure our eternal happiness than by living and dying in the service of the poor, in the arms of Providence, and with genuine renouncement of ourselves in order to follow Jesus Christ."

- St. Vincent de Paul

The Giving Tree, Christmas 2014

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Peter's Parish is sponsoring "The Giving Tree." This is an opportunity for the entire St. Peter's Parish Family to help by sharing their gifts from God with others. Barren Branches will be set up in the upper and lower Church, decorated with tags. The tags reflect a gift request of a clothing or toy item. Each tag includes the age, gender and size if applicable. Parishioners are asked to select as many tags as they would like. Purchase the item or items, wrap and place, with the tag attached, under the tree prior to December 16th, This will enable us to complete our preparations for an efficient distribution of the gifts.

These “Barren Branches” will also serve as our Jesse Tree. As the tags are removed, Jesse Tree ornaments will replace them.

For those preferring the practice of recent years, we will continue to forward woolen items to the needy. Woolen items may be placed unwrapped in the containers near the trees. We hope all our parishioners will take part in the Christmas “sharing our gifts” with others. Thank you for your continued generosity

Advent 2013- Parish Penance Service

Monday, December 16th, 6:30-7:30PM

“You never go away from us, yet we have difficulty in returning to You. Come, Lord, stir us up and call us back. Kindle and seize us. Be our fire and our sweetness. Let us love. Let us run.”

-Saint Augustine, Confessions

“Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin. All hope consists in confession. In confession there is a chance for mercy. Believe it firmly. Do not doubt, do not hesitate, never despair of the mercy of God. Hope and have confidence in confession.”

–St. Isidore of Seville -

“After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.... [One of the elders] said to me, ‘These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb’”
