Holy Water

Dear Parishioners,

Since the middle of Lent the Holy Water fonts in the church have been empty as a precaution to help prevent the spread of covid-19. Like blessed palm, sacramentals are an important part of our faith experience and a source of blessing for us. Holy Water has the power to cast out the power of the devil, and remind us of God’s desire to deliver us, as he delivered the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt.

I have blessed a new supply of Holy Water for your use. It can be found in the hallway to the right of the Sacred Heart Altar in a stainless-steel container. Bring your own bottle and draw some out from the spigot located on the front of the container. I will renew this supply of Holy Water every week to insure its freshness. Bless yourself and your home with Holy Water.

The following are the prayers said for the blessing of Holy Water, I offer them to you as a source of blessing as you use Holy Water.

Almighty and ever-living God,
who willed that through water,
the fountain of life and the source of purification,
even souls should be cleansed
and receive the gift of eternal life.

Renew the living spring of your grace within us
and grant that by this water we may be defended
from all ills of spirit and body,
and so, approach you with hearts made clean
and worthily receive your salvation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wherever this water is sprinkled, every attack of the enemy
may be repulsed. Through the power of your Holy Spirit
may we be kept safe at all times from the snares of the Devil
and all the evil spirits who roam around the world seeking
the ruin of souls. Amen

Father Gagne
